The extended Glee family came together on Thursday to honor their friend and co-worker Cory Monteith.
The memorial event was closed to the public, but 20th Century Fox released a statement thanking fans their support through this emotional time:
Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.
Following Monteith's tragic passing, Glee producers and Fox decided to delay the Season 5 premiere by one week in order to give the show's writers enough time to craft a proper send-off.Glee will now premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26. Monteith and Finn Hudson are expected to be honored in the third episode of the season.
